Default I need a new axle

So I got my rear end worked on last week and they said that on the right side of my axle its grooved...They said its not gonna get worse and doesnt have to be replaced but its makin the noise from the grooves...I wish that it was gone but dont wanna fork out the dough for a new rear axle. How much are axels for a 2002 t/a running for? I know nothing about them but I have a few friends who work on cars so I am sure they could help me out. Also wheres the best place to buy them? I am sure you can get them at stealerships but they are gonna be quite a bit more than other places im sure

You could find a used stock one for ~$25 or so...

Replacing it is an easy job.

I have read a few threads and searched online and it doesnt seem near as hard as I thought it may be....My dad has quite a few tools but I dont know if we have everything we will need. Thanks for the help. Im just tryin to save some money by doin it myself and not payin a shop....I was already out $1200 on my "new" car for repairs to the rearend

Keep in mind you will need to know which type of ABS your car has. There are two different types of ABS. If you have 4-channel ABS it is located on your axles. 93-97 4-channel has 53 tooth reluctor rings on the axles and the 98-02 has 47 tooth reluctors. If you have 3-channel ABS then is is picked from the differential not the axles and you have no worries. If it a 4-channel you can press your OEM reluctors off and reuse them if they do not match but it is a little more work and will require a press.
