Default Clearance for pick-up to oil pan?

I am having low oil pressure on a new engine build and was concidering that the pick-up may be too close to the pan. I checked clearance and have 1/8th of an inch clearance. What is suggested?

1/8 the is a bit to close I set the heigth at 1/4 this is the dimension most engine builders use. Your oil pressure issue is probably related to bearing clearances thet are to sloppy.

When I say low I mean upon initial startup of this new motor I saw 6 psi at idle. Needless to say I only ran it for 50 sec. then pulled it. I have checked all of the usual culprits i.e. O-ring, and galley plug, and pick-up clearance. The only thing I found that the pick-up only had 1/8 of clearance. Is it possible that that could have caused my very low oil pressure?

1/4" is where you should be, and it's best to clay to make certain. If in fact you had 1/8" I still think you would have had good pressure. That o ring causes alot of problems. On my 408 I had a bitch getting the tube just right. Using a torch and hammer on the hot tube did the trick.
