Default Anyone thinking about buyiing an '09 Challenger?

Hey everyone,

I know you guys are pretty hardcore GM, but I'm really a Mopar guy at heart. The '08 SRT-8 Challenger will be in dealerships sometime in April. I was told I could order an '09 SRT-8 Challenger with a stick and should receive it June or July. I think I'm going go for it since it will be my 40th birthday gift and I've always loved Challngers and 'Cudas.

So, it will be time to sell my '72 340 'Cuda and the '99 Trans Am so I can get this 425 HP beast.

Anyone else going for it?

I would like one so I can have a new style challenger and still keep my 73 ralley 340 ralley challenger, so i can have the best of both worlds.

The Challenger is sex on wheels! I really like the styling. But I wouldn't get the first year of any car made. Dealer markups are going to be killer.

If I had the extra money or not soo much invested into my GTO... it would be the only new muscle car I would go for... the other ones coming out just don't look as they should. Dodge did it right with the Challenger! 425hp/420tq is pretty stout out of the box too....

True, I'm seeing a lot of heavy markups from some dealers. I'll be willing to pay MSRP but not over that. If it's really bad, I can wait for the fall or next year to pick one up.

Thumbs up

I do love this new Challenger (well the SRT-8 and R/T models at least) but I'm not sure I'll be buying one or if I'd even take one over the new Camaro if it also comes with a hot motor (it likely will).

I smell a serious 425hp 6.1L Hemi versus a 430hp 6.2L LS3 race abrewin'.

Nice! Keep us updated soon as you get that badboy. But yeah mark up's will prob be crazy the first year, I hope everyone is patient that wants one of these. Then again I also hope to see a few in person on the pike when the weather is nicer, lol.

Anyone know the curb weight for the Challenger? Hopefully it won't be another lead-sled like my friend's SRT/8 Charger, or there'll be some disappointed new Mopar owners looking at more Fbody tail lights... WJ

Autoweek mag just road tested the challenger and said the weight was 40 lbs lighter than an 300 SRT 8. Thats still about 4000lbs total. Still heavy.
