Default Are 255-50-16 M/T ET Radials enough tire for me?

Making right at 400 RWHP through M6 and 3.90 9" rear. I want some strip tires that will fit my 16"x8" stock salad shooters. Right now I am looking at Mickey Thompson 255-50-16 ET street radials.

Will this be enough tire for me for optimum launches assuming I can drive it. Or is simply not enough tire considering my power levels.

Thanks

I'm anxious to see peoples answers. I just bought a pair of these tires. should be here in a couple weeks. I'm not making 400 hp but I do have the same gears and an M6.

Yes it should be enough tire for you. I 60ft consistantly in the high 1.6 low 1.7's with my car on these tires. I have been fighting clutch issues the whole time, I'm confident that without clutch issues and more RPM on the launch 1.5's would have been feasible. I ran 3.90 gears in Moser 9" as well, car is 3900lbs.

Well I have the clutch covered. I have the Spec 3+ and it bites like a pit bull. Looks like this is the tire I will be getting.

With an M6, and dumping the clutch at a high rpm for a brutal launch, you might wanna consider going to SLICKS.

Off the sauce....i'm making 399whp and ran those on the stock rims. They would hook(1.6 60's) but that was through a A3 TH-400.....from a hard launch I dont know if they will hook on a M6. You might consider MT streets....

m6 cars that want to launch hard shouldnt go drag radials becouse they just wont hold up to dumps . Get et streets or slicks. But if your wanting something for the street and the strip and dont care about dropping the clutch then thats the ticket for you.

Same here on 3-5k dumps. with or without spray it hooked very little at pressures ranging from 15-23 at 3 seperate track lol.

Apparently I'm the only one that can hook on these DR's above 400rwhp then... Mine hooked hard enough off a dump at 5k to make me bog everytime. I added more pressure to the tires, and the launches got better. However I never got the chances to really dial in my suspension due to my bugs in my setup. On the street these things hooked awesome even on my 100-150 shot.

How are you bogging with 5k dumps with over 400rwhp? It should get up and go and if your still running the stock 10bolt the bogging is probally saving it from exploading like mine did lol.

I don't know but it def bogged, just like it did on 27" QTP's. It seemed to dead hook and would bog the motor down. It got better with more psi but I didn't get to try raising the rpm before i had problems. I was running Moser 9".

these tires work great. They have gone into the 9's. Just put the air pressure to 15psi and do a big burnout.

I'd put money that this guy will go 1.4's this year on the same tire. Those MT DR's just plain work!
