Corvette Performance - Anybody using slotted/cross drill rotors on their car
If so, what kind are you using and any good/bad comments you have about them. I am thinking about getting a set.. :drive:
I've got a set on the way.
From what I hear, if you track the car a lot on a road course, get non-drilled. If you are mostly a daily driver/drag racer, the slotted/drilled will be fine.

Ditto....I hear the drilled ones will crack at the holes after repeated heat cycles.
I've got the baer cross drilled rotors.. and I've had them for about 18 months.... I see tiny cracks in them.... And thats from everyday driving..

Any brands you suggest fellas..

We carry our G-Stop rotors by DBA (Disc Brakes Australia). We are the US importer for these brakes. This company makes the Baer brakes also. We have both Drilled and slotted, or just slotted in stock.
We are also a Wilwood OEM distribtor, so we carry the new 2 piece Wilwood rotor package also.
And for those of you who want more, we hav the Wilwood 6 piston G Stop brake upgrade to a full race quality 6 Piston caliper set up.
Give me a call if you are interested.
Thanks

I have Baer Eradispeeds (cross drilled/slotted) on my SS. I have only had them on a month now, but they have a lifetime warranty, so I couldn't imagine them cracking or warping with a lifetime warranty. I think the key is to season them per Baers instructions and you should never have problems with them. My only complaint is they do create more brake dust. But hey, it washes off. :D

Rotors that are "drilled" after manufacturing are normally going to crack all the way through during Road Course racing or heavy Open Track usage. However, rotors that are not drilled, but have the holes cast in them, such as Porsche 996 Twin Turbo front rotors, are exeptions to this rule and will hold up to any abuse you can throw at them.

Tiny cracks are normal, even the above mentioned Porsche Rotors will develop small cracks by the holes, but this is nothing to worry about and does not weaken the rotor at all. Just keep an eye on them and if the cracks lengthen or go all the way through, time for a new set.

I've been happy using ceramic pads with my Baers as far as dusting goes, much less noticeable than with the stock pads. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to washing and every little bit helps. :D
