Default ram air help

trying to make my own functional ram air hood. I have searched and seen a lot of stuff but none answer my question. How do I take the blocking peice that is behind the vents off. Its not screwed in and do I have to cut into it from the back or what. I do not want to damage my hood. what toold to use, can i just drill into the rivets and when it does come loose, how do i get the blocker out. I have a prctice hood to work on in my garage from an accident sitting in the garage so thats good, just need some help from people who have done it.

Also how much empty space is between the back of the vents and the front of the air box, so when I go to home depot to buy something to bridge the gap I know what to get.

any help would be great.

i used a dremel to cut the block in half, then pulled it out that way.

I drilled the rivets out, and then trimmed the top with the dremel until it came out. Now ive afraid to drive it in heavy rain though...
