Why is North Dakota lumped in w/ the northwest?

Why is North Dakota lumped in w/ the northwest? Hello from Fargo. I was wondering who thought ND was part of the northwest? I think some people need to go back to geography class and put ND in the midwest where it belongs.

No one knows why some of the states got lumped around like they are. Its confusing.
There are a few members from NDak, not sure but try search to see threads of who is around.
