When talking about heads and valves, what does splayed mean?

When talking about heads and valves, what does splayed mean? I know this may seem silly to some of you but I don't know what a "splayed" valve is. I do believe canted valves just means that they are angled so the port may flow into the combustion chamber better.

Re: When talking about heads and valves, what does splayed mean? i believe that when reffering to splayed is the set up of the head. where the valve patttern goes IE IE IE IE on our heads as to EI IE EI IE of standard small block chevy motors. (I=Intake, E=Exaust)

parallel, but canted so they open away from each other
and/or away from the cylinder wall toward the center.
The idea is to reduce shrouding of the opening on a big-
valve motor and make fuller use of the flow circumference.
