Default 17x8 inch wheels?

Are 17 x 8's too skinny?

I found a great looking wheel, but it only looks like it comes in 17x8.

If I oculd fit a 275/40 on it, would it still look skinny?

Anyone run that size?

I really like the wheel, but I don't want the skinny look.

I don't think that you could fit that big of a tire on them. I have a spare set of wheels that are 17x8 and I had to take them off because they looked too skinny and I was told by americas tire that 245/45/17 was the bigest i could go.

True, the largest tire would be a 245/45. But the offset is wrong (zero offset). That's why it has a deep dish. You would need a 45-55 offset for the wheel to look right.
Zero offset will stick out about 2".
