Gears & Axles - moser 12 bolt making car sit higher?

I just installed my moser 12 bolt. Now my car sits about an inch higher in the back. my car has always had a little rake to it but now it looks straight out the 70's man! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> Has any one had this problem? How much spring should I cut to lower it one inch (granatelli springs)? <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" />

Mine did the same thing. Actually the driver side was higher than the passenger side as well. I went with ground control rear adj. springs. That way I could level it out and lower it as much as I wanted. They worked real nice.

I would cut about 3/4 of a coil and re-install. Use a saw or something just not a torch <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

DO NOT cut your coil springs!!!!!
Take the rubber bumper from the top of the springs and cut ~10" of garden hose and work it on the top of the spring about 1 coils worth. That will drop you ~1" or so.

ya, i was thinking about taking the rubber perches out, I'm gonna try that, I don't wan't it to sit too low though, the 315's will rub the fender lips on big bumps and pot holes. thanks

Never really noticed but I'm checking tonight. Can someone give me a measurement just to compare to? Top of tire to fender?

You can cut the springs without incident. My company manufactures and sells springs and I am an engineer by trade. Cutting the spring without using heat is the only way to do so. It will increase the spring rate slightly but not enough to make a difference.

Taking the doughnut out is a worse idea that can cause more suspension noise. Cut the spring, re-install the stock doughnut, and you're all good <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

When you installed your rear trailing arms did you torque their bolts down when the car was in the air or when it was sitting at ride height. If you torqued the bolts down when it was in the air, then the bushing are preloaded and are holding your car up in the air.
