You'll need to go in from the bottom of the car to remove it. Just jack it up, support it on jackstands, and slide under the front.

It's pretty self explanatory. There are 3 15mm bolts that hold the bracket and 1 10mm in the back of the alternator. Just be careful not to let the alternator fall before you disconnect the plug on the top rear. It's a very thin cable and can break easily.

Don't forget to disconnect the battery!!!!

to add,,,,

yeh.. easy.

it's under the PS pump. you'll need to remove the primary belt, then the alt.

while under there it's a great time to examine the health of the belt and to spin the waterpump by hand.

also, look carefully at the waterpump weep hole.

You don't need to get the car very high for this job. I just pulled mine up on ramps.

As stated above, be VERY careful about that red field wire on top of the alternator. It will break VERY easy if you don't support the unit as you adjust it enough to unplug that wire.

Let us know how that works out. My buddy went through 3 autozone alternators before he just said F*ck it and bought a GM replacement.

Takes 10 minutes, like stated above once the last bolts come out don't let the alternator fall and rip the wires

What exactly does the red wire do that's connected to the alternator? Thanx!
