Hey my name is sean.
I have a 99 3.8 that i am working on getting the parts together to do a 3.8 to ls1 swap.
I already have the engine(needs to be rebuild) im told it has a rod knock and a m6 trans.

Hello sean 99 I'm in Michigan also, the first investment I would recommend is a factory service manual. You wont regret it. I took a 2000 SS and a 98 stolen/recovered Z body and built one car from the two and both cars were identical right down to the color. I would'nt/could'nt have gotten it done so quikly (3 months) without the Factory service manual.

Good luck to ya, Tom

a cam requires valve springs, pushrods, guides, retainers etc. which ends up around $700 or more. Then you need a tune which is around $400-500
