Default 1969 Cutlass Convertible LS1/4L60e QTP long tube headers

Just started swap on a 69 cutlass convertible - 98 camaro LS1 with painless harness. Engine is mocked up and will mock trans today. Suggestions on tank and fuel line size would be appreciated. Has stock hard lines from tank to front of engine - 3/8" and 5/16"???? - will the 3/8" line handle the fuel for a stock LS1 - no mods other than the headers are planned - making a cruiser.
Have been reading posts for a month prior to starting swap - also woring on a 37 Ford Downs body on a S-10 with a LS1 - much more room for fabrication and way further out on completion.

I've used 3/8 feed and 5/16 return on all my swaps, works fine for stock motor. But I'd make sure that's what you have, mine I believe were 5/16 and maybe 1/4, not sure. good luck with your projects.

Yes.. the 3/8" feed line and 5/16" return lines will be good for your application. If your hard feed/return lines is on the passenger side.. you can flip over the Fuel Rail and have the Fuel Rail lines pointing to the passenger side.

If you convert to a later (99+) fuel rail, you can run a corvette Filter/regulator near the rear at the tank and eliminate the Return line that is running from front to back. That way you will clean up then engine bay and have less lines running front to back.

What are you doing for a fuel tank ? Cheap solution is to use a late model (94-96)Caprice/Impala tank as I and few other have used now. The larger tank is a plus for cruising or trips.

X2 ^^^

Im in the process of mounting my caprice tank right now,a minute or two with a cut off wheel and and a grinder, took me all of 5 minutes to do that, i also modified the tank straps, cut them in halve and extended them. I pulled all the fuel line off of the caprice and utilized it on my a-body project, cheap, reliable and easy, plus you can use factory GM fuel filters

Thanks for the quick input - planning a budget swap - nothing elaborate at this time. Will the stock radiator handle the cooling for the LS1 or recommend upgrading to an aluminum one. Also what year model caprice/impala tanks will work????

Great site!!!!!!!!

Most late model RWD models B-Body tanks will work, that will include the Olds/Buick Sedans also.. but everyone targets the Impala 94-96 models.. Also.. I am using the Racetronix pump/wire kit.. it comes with a Walbro 255 pump that will replace the stock LT1/L99 one and also has a stand alone wiring kit with relay.. you can use the PCM Fuel pump pin to activate the Wiring.

The other plus is that the tank is already sump'd, but the only con is that the Sender unit area is about 1 1/2" taller and you either have to lower the tank (not a good idea).. or cut the floor plan and put a access panel on it.. that is what I did and it was not really that hard to do.. You can see my project pages on my cardomain site.. see the link in my sig.

I am also running an Impala tank, but I modded mine for -8AN/-6AN fuel lines. Might need the fuel for future plans. I still need to build a panel to cover the trunk area like bczee.

Your radiator should be fine. The LS1's aluminum block makes cooling it a good bit easier than an old iron V8.

I also used the 96 impala. I used rubber fuel injection hose and quick dissconnect fittings at tank to steel lines on the frame to the front up the left side..

Here is a thread that talked about this subject

note: I was able to use upper hose cause my radiator had two size on the upper inlet, it step down to the LS1 size.
