Default AFR PtoV issues, Tony, LG Lou if you have a minute

Have a AFR 205 head, stock bottom end checking piston-valve clearence on. Measured head to see if it was milled 4.75 from the valvecover rail to deck - talked to J Dow he confirmed thats std height unmilled.

So I begine checking clearence with one of our camshafts I use alot on mild stockhead stuff. 228 intake lobe, .600 nothing way crazy. Come up with .061 clearence with stock .054 gaskets. Seems way tight, and I was planning to run .040 gaskets on this setup to get SOME kind of compression

On the shortblock I get .195 valve drop at TDC. Minus gasket plus piston being out the hole a few though shoudl come up with @ .147 drop on flat surface. Pulled them off, .147 drop. Now Tony and Lou have both said free drop on stock heads right at .147. So unmilled AFR with stock clearence? Should be more. And if .147 free drop is equivalent to stock heads, how am I that tight?

Lou says 59cc .040s and 234/242 108 ICL clears (Id have to guess with about .060 clearence). This setup opens the intake vale 1 or 2 degrees later, and unmilled with .054 gasket... Going to degree this cam and make sure its not way advanced, but its been checked before on bunch of other engines. Might have been misground but I doubt it

I just fired up my car tonight, without checking PTV (I know, STUPID) but it fired right up no problems so far....

Mods are in sig, but I have AFR 205 59cc's, Fel-Pro gasket-- NO COMETIC and the LG G5X3 (234/242)

You are just going wrong about measuring everything. First degree the cam, second use a dial indicator/modified lifter and light spring to actualy measure PTVC 10* before and after TDC
