left rear shock??

left rear shock?? ok i went to a mecanics yesterday because i have a sqeeking when i am driving between 20-30mph. i hit a curb preaty hard so i wanted to know what i might have done. he said i bent the axle with out even looking at it, i dont think i did. my friend said he had the same problem and it had to do with something in the shocks. i want to know what you all think.
