Default tpi to lt1 swap

I'm thinking about dropping in an lt1 or ls1 in my 87 gta. Can anyone help me out by telling me what else i will need to change for an lt1 or ls1 (headers, exhaust, etc.). Thanks a lot for any help!

Go with the LS1 if you can, it's much more superior to the LT1. You'll need a modified harness, PCM and programming, 4L60E transmission, motor mounts and adapter plates. Take a look at hotrodlane.cc, they have most of the conversion pieces you'll need.

Good Luck!

Check out www.Thirdgen.org/techboard

Tonnes of good info regarding thirdgen LT1 swaps. The LT1 swap is VERY straight forwards, and basically requires wiring, as everything else is nearly the same. Same exhaust, motor mounts, engine shape etc

Hey Brian its Jesse. I didnt know you were considering an LT1. I'd say shoot for the LS1. You wont regret it!. But if not build your motor up crazy!

I would definately shoot for the ls1. The LT1 is a good engine, and bolt right in with no conversion parts (except the wiring harness), but the LS1 swap would net you better performance and reliability. I put one in mine!
