Default 224/224 too small

I have a crane 224/224 .551 .551 lsa 114 that I was thinking about installing in my ls1. I am just thinking this looks really small compared to most. I dont wanna put the cam in then regret it wanting a bigger one. I know I want to keep the lsa around 114. Does any have this cam? That can chime in on overall experience What kind of gains did you see? I am really wanting atleast 400rwhp Any sound clips would be greatly appreciated. Any suggestions of better cams too. I am looking for good drivability and good gain. also I will be installing ported and milled 5.3 heads. What kind of gain difference would you see from this cam and the tr224/224 .581/.581 114. thanks for the help

That's a really good cam. It will have a beat to it, yet be easy to tune. If you daily drive the car, it would be a good one to consider. If your car is more of a toy and you can put up with some hard loping, then consider bigger. But please don't get to focused on keeping the LSA at 114. With smaller duration cams, that's not a bad idea, but go much larger in duration and you'll need to start narrowing the LSA to keep the valve events correct.

the 224/224 is a classic cam that proves that you do not need "donkey dick" #'s to make power.

i got a buddy that has a 224(not sure which brand) runs a best of 11.39 with some weight reduction, and a fast 90/90, and bolt ons. Its really quite amazing to me.

i had a 228/222 which is probably around the samething and it pulled hard. i went bigger now just because i dont drive the car as much but if you do daily drive the car the would be a great cam choice.

I run a 12:1 6.0L with heads and a custom 224/222 .609,.581 117 LSA and it is pumping over 450rwhp. Enough to anihilate the new Shelby's.

Look at a BALANCED combination

Another was Tony Mamo 224/228 114+1 LSA and AFR 205s for 475rwhp

Size is not everything, combo combo.

That is a good cam, you can slap on a set of CRANE variable lift rockers 1.72 and squeeze another 15rwhp with extra lift.

even though i don't drive my car daily ,it's nice to be able to clean my ride and take the lady out and not having the car camming like crazy .so far i'm happy with my tsp 224/224 566/566 115

i know what your saying. my gf hates riding in my car because its so loud with the ms3 and the exhaust system i have.

my stock ls1 on friday made 401bhp at the hubs and 390ft/lb on the 220/220 111lsa cam i have with stock rockers and the 7.425" pushrods.
the carb isnt fully set up right yet and i had to run a basic timing curve no1 on the msd box so more to come yet. thanks for your advice btw!

Well I would say get a cut out but looks like you have a strigh flowing exhauts so never mind haha. Yeah the 112 would have been more choppy but the 224 is a good cam get some drag radials and take it to the track you will be happy.

Yeah I got the 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa and I love it. I got over 400 with patriot heads and lt's. I had a e-cutout on it too and it sounded amazing open. It still sounds great.

I was running a TR220. 220-220/551-551 on 114. Great all around cam, especially for a daily driver and someone who wants stock driveability in any situation. I personally felt it was very, very tame. I made 353 with stock 98 heads and intake thru a 3600 'verter. Bigger isn't always better. Its all about the combo.

I was just wanting it a little more choppy. I am going to look around and see if I can find a good deal on a 112.
