I took a gander at my front rotors day and noticed what is in the next few pics. There only a yaer and a half old, and never saw a autox event.

Cross drilled rotors have stress risers at every hole in them. Thats why the big names like Ferrari and Porsche use rotors where the holes are cast in. Anything for our cars is a cast blank thats then drilled...very different stress distribution in the rotor. Go blank or go slotted and you shouldn't see a problem again. I know it's not the same appearance...but it's your brakes...don't want them failing you.

Time for some real brake rotors that are reliable and perform well (e.g. Brembo blanks, Centric parts premium blanks).

its been proven that drilled rotors do nothing for braking except wear on your pads and reduce the life of your rotors. just stick to slotted or just plain. its the best way to go

I knew that drilled rotors are prone to cracking, I just figured that normal DDing would be fine on them. I like drilled rotors becuase they look pretty, and I have big open wheels that show off brakes.





I know my cars just begging for a C5 brakekit, but I'm trying to pay OFF my debt.

if anything drilled and slotted are WORSE for street driving. They extend your braking distance, wear out the pads quicker and finally will crack if drilled.

Brembo blanks are the way to go especially on a tight budget, long term investment.

Thats a shame, cause the look so badass. Wholeseale direct offered the cheapest deal, so I was kind of asking for it. Are any specific drilled rotors known to be more sturdy?

I picked up some brembo blanks from mike at rotorsonline.com
he can crygenically treat them for 30 a rotor or zinc them for 8(silver), 10(black), 12(gold)

I ordered cryo, and silver I should have them in the next week or so

Yea ive been reading alot about cross drilled are pointless and more for looks and will cause those stress cracks like the ones in your pictures. I agree on keeping it slotted though.

I like my pretty brake rotors . . . And accept the fact they fail quicker than un drilled or slotted.

I've never heard of wholesale direct rotors. I would imagine certain drilled rotors may be more prone to cracking than other types.

That being said.... I would never put drilled rotors on my car. If I were building a show car (and I'm not), I would probably put on special plated non-rusting blank rotors.

Go with a slotted rotor. Or you could go with a rotor with the dimples and slots if you are going for looks.

My brother had a set of Powerslots that were cross-drilled and after a whole day of auto-X'ing and daily driving like a jerk, never had cracking or warping. He got 'em hot during the auto-X and they smelled for a little bit, but put a lot of miles on them without trouble. If he couldn't get 'em to crack, I don't think many people could, at least for a daily driver. If I can't afford the Brembos, I'll be looking into these.

They were a sponsor at one point... but they haven't been for a while now. I bought something from them didn't get it after a month. I think they went out of business. Got the money back though.
