So, they red-flag the race to clean up the wreck carnage w/6 laps to go yesterday at the Vegas race. Then parade them around at 60mph for 4 laps under caution. Then give us another 2 lap boring finish....why couldn't they NOT HAVE COUNTED the 4 caution laps and let them have a 6 lap decent, MAYBE exciting finish? This has surely become a ass-clown organization...they rank right up there w/pro wrestling....:wrist: WJ

Because nascar has completely lost it's roots and is now catering to everyone BUT the people that have been loyal fans for the last 20 years.
Hell, the day they allowed a foregin auto manufacturer to participate was the day it went into the toilet. It's a big turd at this point, not too far from getting flushed.

I just checked on the Jayski site and they said he failed to secure his oil tank reservoir. He will keep the win, but will lose some points and money.

I dont like some of the gay shit they do but if they went longer most cars were close on gas and not counting laps wouldnt be fair to them.
on NASCAR.com they said the cover for the oil tank was off. Most likely they see it as an infraction because it will help give the car more downforce. They want the interior of the car sealed up as well as possible. I think last year Evernham's cars were caught with something like holes around the jacking bolts being too large, when there was no rule as far as size.
NASCAR really has become nothing more than a money hungry machine over the last few years. Telling teams they can't have certain sponsors because because its a conflict of interest is total bullshit. Stupid debris cautions (aka NASCAR caution) for no apparent reason. Fining Robbie Gordon when he was supplied the wrong nose for his cars at Daytona, WTF...theres more than likely only one supplier for those noses anyway. They're only looking out for the big teams with the big money.

you guys seem suprised. its the american way. every sport is pretty much turning into a money hungry machine. and its the people involved that make it that way. there's no reason to pay a guy $160million over the course of 6 years to play a game. its insane. back in the day they played for a place to sstay and food money...thats it.
but anyway...GO JR!!!! :D

I could not agree more. That was very boring watching them cruise around at 60mph for 4 wasted laps. I did not hear the drivers view of this yet. The track did suck at turns 3 and 4. These cars suck also. How can you drive around with not front adjustment on the bump stops everytime. They are making the sport worse not better. Maybe somone should start another circuit.

While they were dicking around cruising on their caution laps, they could've let anyone who thought they needed fuel, pit for a gas n' go, then get back into position and give them the green for a 6 lap race to the finish, but I guess the Nascar rocket scientists running the big dog-screwing-the-pony show aren't smart enough to figure something sensible like that out.... :D WJ

allthough what your sayin makes sense, you have to look at it like this. most of the time a race is lost or won in the pits...its all about who can get their car in and out the fastest. who can make the best judgement calls on gas so on and so forth so if they just let everyone pit and get back in the same position it would kind of defeat the purpose.
i dunno....i still enjoy watchin the race on sundays so it doesnt matter what they do.

Agreed!
That is something they may not be around long enough to realize. :(
I guess the billions of TOYbucks were just too hard for piggy Helton & France Jr. to resist??
The commentating SUCKS the worst though!!
Buttclown 'Dee Dubya' just CANNOT give enough free advertising to Toy and his Toyboyz.
And Jimmie Spencer (who I actually used to think was cool) could NOT :swing: ANY MORE than he does for his beloved 'Smoke'!
WTF ever happened to objectivity in broadcasting??
I guess all of that also went down the toilet when FOX took over. :pissed:

It started the loooong downward spiral in the top division way before Toyota ever became a factor. I really stopped following the cup series after Dale Sr died. I was never a big fan of his, but he was the last thing that still made it fun and exciting to watch. One of the last of the old schoolers who did it on their own terms and were respected for it.
The last time I really remember it being interesting to watch was in the mid-90's. I remember back in '95 I think it was, with Dale Sr and Rusty duking it out every race for the championship. Now they have the Chase for the Cup and all this other crap that I have no idea how to even follow at this point.
Then the Busch-- er... Nationwide... or whoever is blowing Mike Helton now... its still got some good action, if all the damn cup drivers would stay away and let the little guy get some wins. The truck series is still exciting to watch though too. Personally, screw all the top divisions anymore... as long as there is still the NASCAR modified tour, the real spirit of NASCAR will live on.

Don't even get me started with taht whole chase bullshit too. The idea that only the top 10 cars can count for the last 25% of the season is bullshit. What if the guy that's in 15th points wise wine 5 polls, 3 races and 4 top 5's, and the top 10 guys wreck 2 weeks in a row..... now the guy that was 15th should be 3rd or 4th or whatever, but no, he doesn't count. It's bullshit, every car should count right to the end.
Soon, you will see sponsors pulling their funding for anyone that is not in the "chase" at that point of the season........ yeah, that's gonna be real good for nascar. See the top ten guys show up, then a bunch of ham and eggar's that you have never heard of show up to race with no sponsorship, because now they can make the field because all the teams that aren't in the race stay home, or you will see the big 4 and 5 car teams field all their guys to block for the one guy that is in the chase, that's real good for the spirit of racing too.
No thanks, I'll keep paying attenion to drag racing. Besides, I like being able to walk thru the pits and talk to people, instead of being kept 100000 feet from the nearest pit crew member/trailer

we all know that real race cars run on DIRT!!! J/K, but if you want to see good racing get off the damn couch and go support your local short track (Or dragstrip). If people would start going to more race's on saturday nights ASSCAR will take notice.

Ehh, it's all entertainment to me. I think the day I lost respect for nascar was when they went to tube chasis cars and the only thing on the cars that resembles a 'stock' car is the manufacturers name.
I say put it back into the manufacturers hands. They have to run a stock body with welded doors and a cage and it has to be a current modified motor. I know that sounds crazy, but it worked back in the 50s-80s and those were exciting times, not that I was alive in the 50s, 60s and early 70s.
At least then we'd see mustangs, camaros, challengers running, and they'd be made better for the consumer to buy, just like in the early days.
Oh well, we can dream, but I still go back to my first statement, it's purely entertainment, and the minute you lose site of that, it stops being enjoyable.
Another thing I'd like to see them do is take away motor restrictions. Let them make as much power as they want. Throw big blocks in there, with fuel injection, and whatever else. There's nothing worse than watching a restrictor plate race in my opinion.

I will also be headed to Concord N.C. this year for the World of Outlaws Finals. I have been to a lot of NASCAR races, but I will only watch it on T.V. , they have just lost me on some of the stuff they have allowed to happen. I like to see good racing, and you can`t beat the 410 Sprints and the Late Model series. Our local tracks Hagerstown, Lincoln, and Williams Grove charge about $12-$14 admission, free parking, coolers, and great racing!

I watched the Daytona 500 on direct tvs new hotpass channel. I stood on the dale jr channel and watched the whole race from his car and you listen to him and his team talking back and forth. It was awesome, and theres no commercials. They just follow Dale Jr around for the entire race.

how fing true man, remeber the rules of the early days? it created the mopar super birds for production just to race them
now we have FWD impalas, fusions or taruses, camarys, grad prix, the charger is the only one thats remotly close except you cant get a 2 door like the nascar body is . they do still run manufactor blocks though.

I watched the race from Vegas.. thought it was good.
I do think the length should be like 100-150 laps, 500 miles is really long.
Plus- Gordon took some lick on that inside wall- radiator was on the next lap.
The NHRA only pays attention to Rails, Floppers, and Super-Stock.
What about all the other classes? What happened to thier "Pure Street" class???

If you like the NHRA Sportsman racing (stock, super stock, e.f.i. classes), just attend a national event on Thurs. or Friday. Way less for a ticket, and it's the best racing anyway. Granted, the Sportsman classes don't get the TV coverage the Pro classes get... On a local or regional level, go to a Lucas Oil Series regional sportsman event....it's awesome racing. Anyone who has attended the yearly regional NHRA event at LVD, or any other regional event on the tour will agree. Get on the NHRA website and check out some of the pics posted of the Sportsman cars showing their stuff at the 1st 2 National events of the '08 season....it's worth a peek. These are the very best sportsman drag cars/trucks in the country, built and driven by people just like you and I, playing by a VERY strict set of rules, without the tacky, hillbilly flavor that Nascar has added to their Nationwide circle-jerk series. I really still love the Nascar Modifieds, though...Just my .02 cents worth... WJ
