what does it sound/feel like? my buddy's v6 sounds awful. it moans and the power steering doesn't work at low engine speeds. bad steering pump?

I had the same problems after throwing donuts in a grassy field. The wheel kinda started yanking itself around on its own. When I drove off, no power steering and horrible noises. When I revved up, it worked fine.....with noise......Replaced the pump......power is back but not like it should be and it still whines like I'm charged or something.....think its probably a rack/pinion problem.....
