Drag Racing Tech - This place is boring, boring, boring!!!!

I don't know if it's the hot weather and nobody wants to post their times because of the heat or what.
Also one other thing I've noticed is the moderators use the admin forum like a private club to carry on tech and performance discussions that should be out for everyone to see.
Pro Stock John and Tony are to busy getting free parts for their LS1tech "Project Cars" to get on anymore. I wonder if they will be unbiased when they give us reports on said parts. :D
I went out to the track last night and Kristy has got her wagon running again (6.80's in the 1/8) and she's right back to kicking butt's in the brackets. I'm trying to talk her into putting a fast system on it so she can run the bracket race at the Thunder Shootout. :burn:
Let's see what else is new??? I'm changing the cam in my car to one a little smaller. The one I had 256/260@.640 lift was to much for a 370 inch motor and a ls6 intake so a going back with a 240/244 @ .612 112lsa from LSM.
A word of caution for those of you considering or using Crain solid roller lifters. They work great as long as the base circle of the cam does nor drop below 1.420".... If you go less than that and you will have internal oil leak causing low or no oil pressure due to the lifter , when on the base
of the lobe, uncovers the oil galley causing a bleed off of pressure.
That's all for now but I'll let you know how my dog's appointment goes at at the clean up shop. :)

I've noticed things being slow here also.
I'm just leaving to get my chassis certified. Hoping to be ready for the CamaroZ28.com event next weekend. Here's a few pics of my project, if you're interested.

Hey Joe, how come you haven't posted your times lately? Feeling slow? :p

Get on the site or get on this drag racing forum? I post a ton on the site daily, but I don't have a car to race right now. Maybe that is why I don't post times? Hmmmm..... could be!
"And now, we are pleased to return you to your regularly scheduled grumpy old man post. :D

:)Big ol motor like that and that's fast as it will run??? Hell down here in the south we got lil ol 331inch power adder motors @ 3100lb with true 10.5's running 8.0's. So Sled an 8.70 is nice and I congradulate you but don't expect me to get all giddy over it.

Yes, it's slow. I've been to the strip only once so far this year. But hope to get 10s before long.

Not being able to express myself is a burden I've had to bear my whole life. :D

Slow here for me too... :emb:
My car is torn down and won't be getting put back together anytime soon. It won't be getting an LS1 put back in it, either...
I picked up an '86 Chevy shortbox PU on a trade awhile back that I've been working on lately. I've nearly disassembled the entire interior and body for a thorough re-paint. The interior is all done (paint-wise), and I'm beginning to work on the outside paint/body work.
I think I'm going to put together a low-budget 383 Dart iron-headed stroker motor for it and just have fun going slow since it'll be at least a year before my Z is rolling again...

In my spare time I've been cleaning my house up and getting it ready to rent a couple rooms out. I had to buy my X out of the house which took up all my "fun money" for the next few months, so I'll going ghetto for awhile.
The good news is my Z28 is ready to roll, I just need to get the PCM done up @ MMS. Hopefully high 10s on motor in this summer heat.

I know a lot of oldtimer's setups are in build stages. Some folks are behind due to problems.
Sorry to hear that Terry come fly down to TR and meet Tim I'm sure he will be nice to you in person.

Im still at the build stage.ARE should have my car done in the next couple weeks.I will have no problems running with the big dogs.I did go to TNT on Friday and cranked out a 14.88@90.31 2.08 60ft in my 7300lb 2003 Silverado HD 4x4 crewcab longbed Duramax diesel. Not too bad for a tow rig.

Thanks Chris I'll have to reciprocate accordingly in the future beyotch.
I have no idea why Joe Kill Joy is stepping down on camshaft maybe he'll do that and make excuses. That's a 4.030 bore iron block right.

Johnny I still drive my car on the street a good bit and the big cam was to much. Also as I said in my first post I had more cam than I had intake. That's why the engine always responded to nitrous so well. Gonna do the cruse-ins this fall so I'm putting the bumper supports and full exhaust back on the car. Gotta take the car and get the hail damage worked out that I got while racing at the Montgomery NMCA race. Gonna work on the sound system some also.
I made a mistake back in 1970 and ruined a 1970 1/2 Z28 by making a racecar out of it but this time I'm doing things a little different.
Next roadtrip for the car is Panama City Labor Day weekend. After that Pigeon Forge this fall.

Using your last attempt at setting records with the mighty xxx422 as a gage I guess maybe an 11.50.

PSJ, I think you have 9's in the car but it is going to probably take a while to get everything sorted out. (As it normally does with big combos)

I'll be sure to run 9's with the car and then drive it 200 miles roundtrip before the end of the year.
If you see an oldtimer laying low it usually means the car is down.

Hehe with all you old timers and your car projects in the works, it looks like my chances at the Thunder Shootout are getting better!
