Hey guys, I'm stumped on the fuel pressure regulator. From reading search threads, the stock one in most F-body vehicles is in the tank. I was pretty sure it was on the fuel rail? If not, WTF is on the fuel rail?

My motor is a 98 out of a Trans Am if that helps... Just trying to figure out what all I need to make my motor run once it's installed.

i believe thats just a small regulator to regulate between the 2 fuel rails. nothing more, just makes sure that each bank has even pressure.

I believe it is called a pulse regulator or damper, it helps to even out the pressure at the rail since it is dead-head.

Good deal. So would a stock one be sufficient? At the moment my motor is making ~500 HP.

Most people just use a 99-02, I believe, Corvette filter that has the regulator built in. I would thnk that would be suffecient for your application.

the fuel filter from 01 corvette has the regulator in it. just like ls1nova71 was saying

Fuel filter, hmm? And this mounts to the fuel rail? In the tank? Or on the frame rail? I'm getting one hell of a confusing picture from the intarwebs

It mounts outside of the fuel rail, normally under the car.

In my thirdgen swap, ill be mounting mine just underneath the rear seats, then running a single fuel line to the front of the car.

It's easiest to mount the filter regulator as close to the pump and tank as possible. That way you can run a single line forward. What type of pump are you using? External or in tank?

I'm using my stock intank pump complimented by an inline Walbro 255.
So this is the one and only fuel like that goes to / from the motor? No return from the fuel rail, correct??

Yes, after the filter/reg, there is a single line that runs up the car to the fuel rails.
