Default good stock cubes cam for cam only? w/4.11 and bolt-ons

i was wondering what is a good cam for a stock cubic inch ls1 for a cam and bolt-on only M6 car with 4.11 gears? i have read all the "LS1/LS6" books and a bunch of posts about cams but still dont know what i am looking for. i just need pointed in the right direction. i want an very aggressive idle. i plan on going to the track as much as possible and doing and some highway racing, but this is also my daily driver. i need some hp and tq i can use with 4.11 gears. if anyone has a cam in their car that they like, let me know. any input will help. thanks

I've thought about this as well, but I figure I'll blow any cam only car out of the water if I spring a little more for heads... but I would like to know the answer to this question as well...

You just have to dig into the posts, or else call comp cams and discuss with them your plans. I hope by cam only you are also talking about changing your valve springs (retainers too). Also expect to pay $400 to have the car tuned. Something like 224/224 .550/.550 115 or so is a reasonable daily driver.

Sounds like you want something bigger than the 224/224. The 4:10 gear will let you give up some low end torque. Look into something in the 230's, or do like I did and have Patrick spec you a custom grind and get everything from Thunder Racing.

i had been considering the ms4 because it has a good top end and i figured the 4.11's would help me with the loss of low end like you were saying. but im still not sure. i am only doing this once(because it's going to be a pain to install and cost a lot) so i want to make the right choice. thats why i am looking for as much input as possible.

WOW! agressive cam and a daily driver? you sound like me! I am using the 224/230 114lsa and want to go bigger. I also got 4.10's. this cam is alright but i also want bigger. I've been looking into the ms3 cam with a 112lsa and i am also getting info that the TREX cam is doable on a LS1, dont quote me on the TREX, its just what i've heard. But an M6 with 4.10's, i would say high 230's dur. and low .600lift. my $.02

yeah, im the same way. i dont mind giving up a little drivabilty for an aggressive cam. as long as it shakes the ground and does really good at the track.

check out flowtechinduction.com

or shoot ed curtis an email over there. he used to do custom grinds for me when i was buildin fords all the time.. excellent product the guy really knows his ****. he specs the cams out and gets comp to cut them to his specs. makes some of the most drivable hp/tq out there. anyhow, thats my .02. and when it comes time for me to cam up, i know where im goin.

My car is similar to yours, but I did do a cam. All the mods are in my sig. There's a dyno graph buried below in TA pics. It's not an aggressive idle at all, but it delivers good power with excellent DD manners.

I had TR Trak cam and I daily driven the car everywhere (old car) awesome cam power comes under 3000rpm and go all the way to 7000rpm with stock 3.42 gears.

Check the vid in my sig and the rest for sound clip.
