Default 1987 5.7l Tbi -> 1975 454 ??

I posted this topic in the performancetruck.net section and got bubkiss for replies so I'm hope someone here can shed some light on this subject as there has to someone out there that has gone from TBI to carb.

I'm kicking around the idea of swapping out a stock 5.7L TBI in a 1987 Jimmy (full size) and replacing it with a 454 out of a 3/4 ton chev pickup.

The 3/4 ton had a turbo400 trany and 14bolt rearend with 109,xxx miles (170,xxx kms) where as the jimmy is coming up on 170,xxx miles.
As far as I can tell, the 350 is still running okay after new plugs, rotor, cap, wires and pvc... but its getting up there in the miles and this could be a good opportunity to learn a fair amount as I've never done an engine swap before.

I do have help from a buddy who's done a few, but only carb -> carb swaps so I have several questions as to how much work this would involve, parts needed, what to do with all the wiring that the TBI setup uses for sensors and all that stuff...
Also, can I use the stock 700r4 trany, or would this involve a trany swap as well?

I have most weekends off and no big plans this summer, so I have some time, but no lifts, welder, ect. Basic hand tools, small compressor, access to engine hoist, ect.

Not worried about the mileage as I never take the jimmy on the highway. Just across town to work, a few places around town and some light 4x4ing. Come summer I'll be in the T/A every chance I get

Anyways... is this going to be a massive project, or do able for a small budget build?

Need to know what I'm in for before I get my hopes up.

Easy route is stick with the smalll block, but as a need for torque and power a gbig block would make anyone happy.

Big Blocks are fun and can be done on a buget.

Exactly... but I need to know how to go about doing this before I start dreaming about torque.
