Default GMPP LSX 454 Crate Motor.....

Anybody hear the lastest news on when GMPP is releasing the LSX 454??? My buddy wants to build an LSX 454, but maybe he should wait if GM is coming out with a crate motor version? It'd prob be more reliable and at least come with a warranty...

See the April 2008 High Performance Pontiac magazine article. GMPP put one in a '01 TA convertible. Says the engine will be available 'next year'.

Hmmm yea, heard about that, I'll have to find that article. I might just advise my friend to wait because the current LSX 454 crate motors available are making some serious power, but have little to no warranty

The standard deck block was around 235lbs, but they say the block can be whittled down to less, there has been chatter about a special Warren Johnson light weight iron block, as well as an aluminum version.

God I hope they offer a long block fitted out like the LS6 service replacement.

Never seen it, is it a 97 and older body? What was the power train it was equipped with?
