The Casey's General Store near me sells only 87 & 89 Octane, but the cool thing is - their 89 is the same price as their 87.

Today it was $3.06 vs. $3.26 for 91 at another gas station.

I know it's only saving 20 cents a gallon, but this adds up over time.

Will this cause pings/knocks, and possibly hurt the LS1 and/or shorten the engine's life?

THANKS.

it will run fine if you use it like a normal car and not like a sports car

The car might pull timing, especially in hot weather. Not worth it IMO for $3 a tank.

I run 87 in winter since I dont take revs over 5k even when geting on the interstate and its cold out. but run 92+ in summertime cause I go to the track just about every week. Just run some sea foam through it every couple of years to keep the carbon buildup down. The manual says its safe to run 87+. Oh and keep up on your fuel filter, It may be cheap gas for a reason lol

It should work fine but still not worth the risks IMO.

There's a 400rwhp neon for sale on here if you want to save on gas bud
