i have a 99 trans am and i read in my book that if you take it out of overdrive and put it in 3 then you will have a faster accelerating car and i tried it and noticed a difference but i was wondering is it bad for the trans to be started out and driven in that gear and i noticed that when i let off the gas it doesnt decelerate fast

should do the same thing if you floor it. tranny should kick down in to 3rd automatically

the only thing that makes it quicker is it doesnt have to downshift.
