Modded DRLS So it has come to my attention that if you DD your bird that your DRL sockets will get ruined.. often.. especially during winter.. Ive replaced mine all too much and today I noticed that the socket is almost directly exposed to the lower bumper opening.. WTF... what a poor design.. SOOO
Im thinking new housings.. and getting two new sockets and putting them on top of the housing.. then expoxying a plastic template on the bottom to seal it up.. when the socket is on the bottom water can pool up(due to gravity) in the connectors.. seems like if it relocated on top that it would help with this...

I just got new lenses/housings, new sockets, and new bulbs. I also put on custom cut clear bra to cover the lenses so rocks and crap dont crack them allowing water in. Done

Problem is that the sockets get wasted here are the part numbers for new sockets. The sockets have leads on them too.The bulb socket part number is 88986416 list $39.76 each(CAMARO)and part #12159662 list $64.65 each(TRANS AM) The Trans Am unit is a 3 way female with leads. This socket has the leads on it too. The price has gone up a bit since I did mine. The part number 12159662 will also work with standard Pontiac Firebird and FORMULA models. The Trans Am lamps are different(daytime lamps).

yeah, sounds like your getting water in there. You might want to take the housing out to see where its coming in from. You can get them cheap on stealbay for about 25 or something.

Any gm tailight turn signal socket..blade style type.. they have it in the electronics/fuses/bulbs/wire/toggle switch section

I just got my lamps and connectors in the mail today. I will definetly come up with something to keep the water out of there. You guys think its water getting into the housing AND/OR condensation collecting? It looks like around the base of the socket connection that there is a foam ring. sure it "may" keep "some" water out and also allow the water to collect and dry there... I dont know...
I'm just frinkin sick of changing bulbs every 2 months on a +30K car...

I saw your other posts Joshie and will definetly think about it. I don't have a bunch of supplies or tools to work with but I may give it a shot withthe best of what I got. Very good idea...and Id be psyched to see how well it works.
