EPP iron block 408, callies crank and rods, diamond pistons, patriot stage3 6L heads and studs, EPP Blower cam, SLP oilpump, CompR lifters, etc etc.
This should put me about 9.4:1 comp ratio.
60lb injectors, Spec stage 3+ clutch, Walbro pump, BAP.
To top this off will be an ATI D-1SC :D :D
Of course the 10 bolt will just puke upon the first few clutchdumps so I have a 9" on the way.
Got SLP connectors to keep the body straight.
I'm planning on running 12-14 psi as long as it's safe with the help of Speed Secrets till I can upgrade the fuellines and add a 2nd pump, I'm thinking this will get me low 300's to each rear tire. :burn: :burn:
I was looking hard at going N/A with big cubes but decided to go forced. More bang for the almighty $$$.
Motor should be here week of 3/17 and you can bet i'll be doing the swap the following weekend. Trying to have it done by april.
I feel like a kid the night before christmas. Can't wait to try this out!

That's an awesome setup. That EPP FI cam is a breeze to tune, makes great power, drives very well, and sounds nice to boot! What else is there?
Not sure by your original post, but you may wanna do that second pump now, you will be hard-pressed to make it to 600 with one of them, even with meth.

Sure seems like it's going to be stout... Looks like you're going to make her a monster and get all the power out of her you can, so why not an F-1 or F-1R instead of the D-1?
I'm sure you'll be tickled pink over it, just wondering...

Came across a great deal in the local want-ads on a d1 so I picked it up. If the d1 gets boring later down the road then the f1 will be an easy upgrade.

It will be the LONGEST 500 break-in miles ever. I guess i'll have to use it to drive to work every day till it's broken in. It will be very VERY hard to not hammer it till it's broken in.

It's just down to connecting the exhaust, wiring in the fan, burping the coolant, changing the oil, a few little things with the blower piping, adjusting the QA1's to compensate for the iron block / blower weight, put the shifter back in.....I think that's it.

Got it finished today with the help of Mark. Thank you.
During the first few hundred miles i'm going to try to stay out of boost for the most part.
To sum up how this thing drives now all I can say is Holy $hit!
It has a ton more torque down low, you hit 3k rpm's and hang on!
I have taken it upto 4k so far at <1/2 throttle and it just rips the tires loose even in 3rd! The roads were a little damp but I did this in the dry stretch of road.
1/4 throttle pulls harder than the old motor did at full throttle!
I can not wait till the rings are fully broken in so I can hammer on it and see exactly what it's got.
I asked Ellis to do a quick tune before the engine was even ready to fire because he had to leave and do some things and wouldn't be around for the 1st firing. With whatever he put in the car started immediately, idled! and runs with no hesitation.
Today I finally got to put a few miles on it with his tune and I had my hptuners plugged into so I could log and keep an eye on KR, temp and stuff. So far no KR at all! Thank you.
I got some photos, i'll start a new thread with pics and stuff in a day or two. I'll try to get a quick video of it running and perhaps driving.
Thanks to Bob and the guys at EPP for putting together an awesome motor, getting it here fast and answering my dozens of calls with questions. The motor was crated and protected extremely well.
Started on it Thursday evening, drove it home Sunday evening. Total hours I spent on it would be about 30. Couldn't have done it so quick without Ellis and Mark's help. Thank you very much!
Plinker, sorry man but santa had to get home and he was following me incase anything went wrong. You will see it up there for tuning soon.
Ellis, I borrowed your 8mm battery disconnect tool for the drive home....i'll bring it back asap.

Wow, somebody else who does a 500 mile easy break-in. This is a touchy subject, but every motor I've ever helped build/broken in (including new vehicles broken in this way) to this day use no oil...hmmm...anyway, glad to hear there's another one alive around here. Gonna have her broken in and at the dyno day? Have fun!

250 miles so far...few medium pulls. Gotta do the fuel system upgrade....it holds 60lbs till about 4k rpm's then nosedives.
Dropping the tank tomorrow.

I trust you talked to Ellis about the fuel pump upgrade. It's not plug-n-play. It looked like Lonnie took the wires off that single for some reason so you will need to do some stuff to it....
firehawk618
03-27-2008, 04:44 PM
No he didn't mention that.....
Are you talking about just the plug that goes directly onto the pump...if so any idea where I might get one.
firehawk618
03-30-2008, 12:42 AM
Got the fuel pump in today. Still working on routing the lines and wiring.
Then it's spec 5 clutch then throw in the subframes that have been sitting here, track down an oil leak, either rear main or oil pan....which I believe I caused from letting boost reach the crankcase
the list goes on...someday very soon hopefully i'll be able to open it up somewhere and see what it's got!
