Default Built LS1 burning oil?

Hey guys i am looking into buying a biult ls1 vette and i was told the motor uses 1 quart of oil every 3,000 miles, is this normal?

also compression on all cilinders is 143-155 is this low?

Thanks guys.

150 is a bit low I believe, might want to try a leakdown test too see the percentage loss and it will tell you where the compression loss is coming from.

1 qt every 300 miles isnt very bad for ls1's though. See if you can find out if the oil is being sucked through the PCV or is dripping down into the chamber through the head (rocker arm hole, valve seal).

The vette has a cam and forged internals, but one cilinder is at 143.
i will ask where exactly the ail is going.

cool, so its pretty common for built ls1 motor to use oil?
also the cam reduces the cilinder pressure?

Thanks for the help.

GM says a quart every thousand miles I believe is acceptable for warranty purposes. When I read this I couldn't believe that much oil use was "acceptable" I bought my 99 Z71 in 02 with 78K and it used a quart every 1500-2000 miles. It now has 176K and still uses a quart every 1500-2000 miles. Pull the plugs and read them and check for wet tailpipes. If it doesn't have the updated PCV valve that can cause oil burning isses too.
