cold start car dies help!!!
i have a 98Z28 with 75 clicks and for some reason when its cold outside and the car sits out all night and i try and start it in the morning it starts just fine it idles up then down and dies. the colder it is the more times it dies and i have to rev it up alittle to get it to stay but even then sometimes it still dies. it only happends when its cold out side and it sits outside when its warm it runs great and starts just fine.
could it be plugs? wires?
no codes are thrown or anything it just dies
it has a k&n filter and exhaust.

Heres what you do:
1. Get in car hold gas and clutch to the floor
2. Start car
3. Once you bounce it off the rev limiter for at least 30 seconds dump the clutch
4. Bang gears leaving driveway
Sorry I don't know what the problem is. It sounds like its not getting fuel if it dies out. I don't know.

ok when i said i need to rev it up alittle i ment just a little like a couple of taps on the gas just to get th rpms up to normal idle not any higher. i dont drive my car untill the temp gauge has moved up above 160. and im not sure if its the fuel pump or not cuz like i said it runs awsome when its warm out or when the car is warm.
p.s. oh by the way ******** its an auto! no clutch!

I have the same problem at times too when its cold. My 98 TA has a little over 103,000 miles. I don't think it could be the plugs or wires because I changed them a few months ago and got a new fuel filter too. I also have an auto trans.

it sounds like the car is stuck in open loop... in other words, the cold idle circuit is malfunctioning.
i would try searching for codes anyway.. there may be one in the memory.
