Default the vig stall converter

I was wanting to get a vig stall but heard they were underated. Is this true I would like to have bout a 3500rpm stall and which one would suit my needs?
2800-3000
3200-3400
3400-3600
Seems like a dumb ? but I heard they were underated.

Vigilante's stall speed are a little higher than they are advertised for. For example a 3200 stalls around 3400-3600 and a 3600 stalls around 4000 in reality

Several factors come into play when choosing a stall. Among them are wieght, torque, gears, tire size; etc. It is also not correct to believe that foot braking the car will allow one truly see the "flash RPM" of the stall. It is almost impossible to see exactly what a stall flashes to unless one is using a data logger of some type. Using a trans-brake will typically allow one to utilize a stalls full potential where-as foot braking it will only do so to a point. The stall must be allowed to flash so when one rolls into the lights and brings the RPM up the convertor won't typically flash as high. When foot braking I usually leave at roughly 900-1000 and hit the bottle right out of the gate. This as well as the weight, gearing, etc. allows my 3000 convertor to flash to 3600 or so. In my Hemi truck I have a 2600 that flashes to 3800 or so as best I can tell when I spray it out of the gate. I need to tighten it up a touch or put the FJO controller on it. So as you can see a stall rating number is really a relative guess from my experience.

There is another consideration as well and that is the "tightness" of the pump. Having run Vigialantes for years in my turbo cars I typically get them with a "zero" pump because they don't feel as loose in everyday driving. I know this seems like rambling but all of it must be taken into account. If you are staying all motor with a relatively small cam 226@.050 or less, 3.73 gears or less and no N2O I would recommend a 34-3600 single disk lock up. If you plan to use gas and or swap heads and cam I would recommend one in the 32-3800 range depending on how much you plan to do to the car. Please keep in mind these are only my opinions and we all know what they are like. At any rate good luck to you with whatever you decide.

If you want a specific stall, don't buy off the shelf. Call up VIG and tell them you want a 3500 stall, they will ask you some questions, and you receive a straight up 3500 stall

SDPC saves the day. +1 for calling it in. The other benefit of the Vigs is the one free restall. For n20 I would take a 3500, but cam only or just bolt-ons I would say closer to 3800-4000. Don't be afraid to go big, thats why a4's have lockup.
