LS4 Performance - Ran a stock 300 c

We were prety much dead even from roll but I feel that he had a little more pull than me on the highway. He had no passangers and said copletly stock. I had 1 passanger and a cai w a flowmaster muffler replacement.
I did fine against him until I shifted into 3rd which seemed really laggy and that damn tcm enguagement sucked. I figured it would be a close race but I thought I would beat him. (we went 2 for 2).
What should be the next step to insure victory over the mighty hemi?

even if you hung with the 300c thats cool; their 5.7 produces about 40 more hp and torque that our Ls4's and the probably weigh just as much a w-body too.

Try it from a dig you'll beat him.
I have taken a Daytona R/T and Magnum R/T from Dig.
All I have is a CAI.
I know someone on here with a Monte took on a SRT8 and beat it.
I got raped by a dodge and GC SRT8.
I'd say DP and a Tune will help.

i was screwin around with a buddy on the highway who has a 06 jeep srt-8 (6.1 hemi) and from 70-135 he only pulled about half a length on me. maybe it was cuz its a box on wheels.

Yeah on the Highway the 5000lbs Cube not much faster but from a dig it chewed me a new one. Thats what I get for challenging an awd truck. lol

Might have gave me a slight atvantage wo a passanger. That would have put me right with him for weight.
Car seems real sluggish in the 2-3 shift. Would you do the tuner or the shift kit to fix this? I do not want to do anything to void warranty.

Thats your problem you let it shift into 3rd lol. Even if you slightly let off the gas and don't know it that could cause the computer to shift into 3rd prematurely to your expectations. 2nd will hold all the way to 120 if not further i don't remember.

When I run the car I drop it into 1st and the car will not shift until it hits its max shift point. You can drop it into 1st on the freeway and it will only go as low as it can wo redlining.

I was the one who took the SRT8 out of the hole. I got got a good jump because he doesn't know how to do (fast car + big wallet doesn't = good driver) launch, and I sprayed a little :devil:.

So does the Impala up-shift automatically? The GXP just bounces off the rev limiter when in tapshift mode - you have to shift manually.

Hm. So the vehicle will still shift in 2nd? it will go through the remaining two upper gears, correct?

nooooo... it will not upshift automagically... you have to shift it up yourself...
dunno what he's thinkin/talkin about...
if you have it in 2, it'll shift from 1 to 2, but won't go into 3 or 4 until you manually upshift it...

Yes it will, I have done it multiple times. Try it, drop it in 1st and floor it and dont lift off and dont shift. The car will do it by it self. My 96 Bonneville was the same way.

foto is correct! if you leave the shifter in first gear, it will shift up to second gear but it will not go into third.

I also went into 3rd leaving it in first. Ill double check that tonnight, not posative on that but 99% sure

New to the group and I love it already. Just wanted to tell you guys I walked on a R/T Charger yesterday. And he seemed pretty pissed! We took off from the dig. We were dead even until about 60-65 mph and I started walking on him and he let up with his front tires even with my rear. I don't respect Dodge/Chrysler unless it says SRT on it now.

I can tell you if he beat you he wasn't stock. Those cars weigh over 4,000 lbs + and 40 hp does not make up the difference. Dodge's PCM's are really restricted, once those are woken up, watch out... even if that is the only mod.

300c does have a better power to weight ratio 11.5 to 1 to the ss being 12.5

I have a GXP so I am not sure if they are the same weight as the SS's. All I know is I beat a couple Hemi's already with my car. With my old modded GT I took out a 2wd Hemi truck too. Should have seen the look on the drivers face. It was priceless!!! lol.

GXP's are heavier, due to their four door nature. Then again, I'm comparing to the Monte. I imagine the Impala is heavier than the SS, simply because it's bulkier.

I took on a Dodge Charger SRT8 and he wasn't even a challenge. His car must have been ragged out cause he should have left me behind with no problem. My friend says he beat the same SRT8 with his 99 Grand Prix GT.
