Default automatic guy converting to a t56. Tell me whats good for my application guys!

well guys
FAWK the 4L60E

Doing the conversion
2001 Trans am LS1 400+rwhp on motor plus 150 shot

Now what clutch is going to handle this?
I'm not looking to replace it every 5000 miles.
I daily drive this car.
I dont want to go cheap.
But i dont want to spend over 1000.00 on a clutch flywheel package.
Is this possiable?

What about shifters. Which shifter shouldi buy?
I understnad maybe some shifters out there hurt trannys?
Am i correct.?
I honselt want the best of the best or close to it.
No sense going cheap the first time as it allways bitesyou in the ***.

Thinking of a six speeds Inc tranny.
Not sure yet.
Could i get away with a stock used T56 for now?

also if anyones got the conversion parts of any sort let me know as i have n othing right now.

Thanks guys!!

Spec 3+ clutch would be a good match. Shifter is personal preference, I like the factory Hurst w/short stick. Pro 5.0 is a good one too. Don't forget you're going to need a 12 bolt or 9" and at least 4.10 gears.

A Textralia is a little out of your price range ($1,100ish) but would be well worth the money if you're spraying a 150 shot. My brother's 3+ went out in about 4,000 miles, but some people have good luck with them.

I'd say that kind of power on a used stock T56 and you're taking a shot in the dark. It may last you 20,000 miles or more, the synchros may frag on the first first through fourth run. You never know how the person before you drove it. I know someone who's stock tranny went boom with 10,000 miles on it with nothing but bolt-ons.

Six Speeds Inc is highly recommended, especially for your power level.
