Default How hard is it to change rod bolts "already searched"

Hey guys I think I have got a 98 z bought. With research I have found that the rod bolts are a little weak. So I started wondering if I do start to turn the engine up to the kind of rpm's where it matters how hard would it be to change the rod bolts while the engine is still in the car. In less words how hard is it to pull the oil pan? Thanks for input

you need to get a strut tower hoist for the motor and lift it up far enough to remove the oil pan, then replace the bolts one at a time, do not undo the cap off of the rod all the way unless you plan on replacing the bearings. then put it back together, arp are the best bolts.

Is this a difficult task getting it up high enough?
Thanks

I had 3 rods break in half and one piston was down there helpin out too. The ARP's still held the rods on the crank even after beat to death. They r a little heavier but stronger than the K's

I thought you had to support the motor and tranny and the drop the k-member. There's a write up on it somewhere. That's the way they did it in the write up though.

It's not exactly easy, but I wouldn't say it's terrible either. Go with the Katechs or go with ARP and have the rod end's resized, which requires pulling the motor.

Here's the install: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...light=rod+bolt
