Default New Whipple 3.3 just showed up...

Here's the new Whipple 3.3l twin screw destined for the passenger side of my 434" SBC. Its output is going to go through my 2077cfm Bell FMIC:

Here's the Air Inlet (Rear):

And the raw material for the new bracket I need to design and fabricate - It's a 12"W x 3/4"D x 27"L piece of 6061 T-6 Aluminum Plate:

I also have to design and fab up some sort of large, monoblade, servo-controlled air door controlled by my Holley 950. I plan to set it up to open above 50% TPS. When it's closed the blower will receive no air and should be almost silent. The motor will breathe then through the Mondo Bypass.

Target boost after the FMIC is 12# for street. Starting with a 7" crank pulley and 3.5" blower pulley for a pulley ratio of 2.0. I'm not sure what this pulley combo will put out on the 434. Probably have to change pullies but no idea if I'll have to go bigger or smaller.

More to come.

Thanks all. I'm targeting 750rwhp/750rwt as a street tune with alky injection. Never driven a PD blower-based car before - I've gone from Powerdyne to Vortech V-2 S-trim to Vortech V-2 T-trim to this, so I only really know centri stuff. Should be a fun trip...

And I still have 2 stages of nitrous to play with, and a progressive controller.

That blower is a beast! We have several installed on 03-04 Cobras at the shop. Easy 700+ rwhp potential..and the powercurve is sick. We have a guy with stock heads and cams putting down 767rwhp on boost alone, and it makes big power the minute you stab the throttle. Good choice!

I've always felt those that prefer centrifugals just haven't had a big enough Twin Screw...

I am so in love with those pics.

Thanks for posting them.

Nothin like the insta-torque of a PD.

You should post some size relation pictures so people can really understand how large that thing is.

Any opinions on how my chosen cam will work with this Whipple on the 434? It's a custom Comp Xtreme Street Solid Roller, 242/248@.050" on a 115LSA, net lift .603/.608", installed +3. I chose it when I was still thinking centri. Could still change it - the motor's not in the car yet. Rather get close to the perfect cam rather than worry about the extra $300.

I figure with the big cubes and twinscrew, low-end is never going to be a problem (except probably too much), and I do like to be able to wind out to at least 6500 with 7000 doable in a pinch.

Also with this setup I'm sure I'm going to need a new rearend ratio - it's 3.73 now. I'm thinking 3.23's. Any ideas?

Here's the new Super Victor Vortec EFI after rough porting - still needs finish work. I embedded the NOS Dual Big Shot spraybar (shown here capped and taped off) in the top of the manifold since I needed the stack height to stay below the stock hood:

This was a plate - I just cut off both sides and machined the manifold to accept. Once the porting is done, I'll epoxy the spraybar in and do a small cleanup skim cut to make sure everything is flush.

Here's a rear shot of the new Whipple 3.3 vs. the older 2.3 that says it all. Both are mounted on Cobra plates:

Blower dimensions are: 14.6"L x 8.2"W x 6.14"T.

Holy hell. What kind of car is this? Seems like fitting that under a stock hood is gonna be a challenge.

Yeah we were looking at the difference between the 2.6 KB and the 2.8H KB (Big Bore) last night in Ed's shop and there was a considerable difference.

Jim,
Are the dimensions you listed for the 2.3 or 3.3? Also, How big are your headers? Are you going to run 1 7/8" or 2"?

This is a very cool project
