That's a pretty neat battery and losing 20 lbs is a good thing. This may be a stupid question but is there some equation that tells you the effective RWHP gain you get from weight reduction or is RWHP calculated independent of what you car weighs? It would appear that if you have less weight to push, your car should be more efficient or easier to move?? I realize this has nothing to do with crank horsepower.

I'm going to think about buying one of these. How long does the factory battery typically last? I have had my car 2 years 2 months.

Ok guys, just got done installing my Braille battery in my truck. I have a 6.0 with after market cam etc.

The install was very easy and straight forward, if you can change your oil or swap out a bulb you can easily do it.
My opinons:
I love it, Truck starts right up idles fine. I triggered the Fans on high turned on the radio lights etc. and the truck still ran fine. I then started the truck with all of the accessories activated and she started like a champ.

I am very pleased with the outcome, i think the front driverside of my truck lifted up a tad bit :)

I didnt start the truck and check the voltage prior to the install but currently the truck is just over 14 volts running.

Sorry for the pic quality, I used my phone.
Here is a slide show!

That mount is not required for the install, its solely optional.
you can mount this battery for under 15bucks just like the guy with the Vette did above.
I like the mount, its a nice product but I used it to give you guys a look at the products.
5% off is the most Braille will allow on their products, the only other thing we can do is offer free shipping which we have done!

Thanks guys,
Derek

I would do the 11.5 lb battery, they do have a 6.6lb battery but im not sure how well it would do.

I do know the 11.5 lb battery will work because its what im running.

I believe two small holes would have to be drilled for the mounting bracket,
If you ever swapped back to a larger battery the holes would be covered by it.

How long a reserve does the 11.5 have in the real world(01 H/C C5)? I am just wooried if I leave the trunk or door open too long the battery will not start the car. I had trouble with a 24lb Rock racing battery with a lot more power than these last year, but if you are all getting along fine maybe I can consider the braille.

Rough calculation.100# weight savings equals .010 in the quarter.
.010 in the quarter equals 10 HP.
Take care.

Thats correct but its not just done to shed a couple pounds. The reason why myself and others have swapped to a lighter battery is to take the weight off the front..
That weight on the nose of the car when removed makes the suspension transfer weight alot better.
Thats why guys relocate the battery to the rear.
However this may not be the best option for a weekend warrior so guys prefer using a light battery in its place.

Rough calculation.100# weight savings equals .010 in the quarter.
.010 in the quarter equals 10 HP.True but as stated above it's not just about the actual weight savings, it's also weight off the nose (critical in both drag racing AND even road racing when seeking a better F/R weight distribution). Plus it's not just about the 20-23 pounds savings by itself, when done in conjunction with say skinnies, seats, maybe pulling a sway bar and/or front bumper support it all REALLY starts to add up.
