This may sound really stupid, but what's the difference in Z28 and SS in the LS1 4th gens aside from a hood and spoiler?
Also is there anything different in the 5 years?

Try a search next time. This has been discused a million times. The SS has 17" wheels and better suspension as well as the hood and spoiler. Some SS cars have a Blackwing lid and SlP exhaust from the factory.

I actually did search. Nothing of any value came up. I think I just suck with search terms. So that's all?

Yeah the search is kind of funny sometimes. Here is another thread that backs up what I said http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=377420&highlight=ss+z28+differance
On a side note if you are still looking for a car I have a 98 Z28 that Im going to be selling soon.

some differences include:
-98 had a different computer than 99+
-98-00 LS1 had LS1 parts, but 01-02 had LS6 manifold and truck cam
-interior colors were different throughout the years
-exterior colors varied as well
-in 99 or 00 the steering wheel changed
-in 01 the EGR was deleted when they started with the LS6 manifold
the differenced between Z28 and SS vary. the SS as a base form only had a different hood, spoiler, and the addition of a power steering cooler. You could get different options through SLP including bilstein shocks, exhaust and lid.

The power steering cooler is NOT a SS option it was on non SS cars as well.

true, but i think it was standard on all SS cars and optional on Zs. someone was saying that all 2001+ LS1s had them, but I dont and ive seen a few others that didnt.

I call mine a base SS.
Hood, rear spoiler, wheels, badges. Thats it. No SLP sticker on the door means you got nothing else, like me.

The base ss has different exhaust and suspension calibrations even before the slp options I believe. I know in 98 they had a 3 inch exhaust on one side only. The additional slp items that are on the sticker are above the ss options added when the car went to slp.
