4L60E Vacuum modulator
I just bought a built 4L60E from Thunder racing and he says that its got a Vacuum modulator on it. I know that its got all the goodies in it like the beast sun shell, raybestos clutchs and band, upgraded pump etc, etc. But how will the Vacumm modulater help the tranny and will it make it last longer? Does anyone else use these? I don't know much when it comes to this but just trying to understand.. Thanks

The Vacuum Modulator is used in place of the Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid.
The PCM uses several different inputs to determine line pressure and then sends the appropriate signal to the EPC for adjusting the line pressure.
The Vacuum Modulator uses one signal.
We use them in all of our Stage 2 and up units... basically anything that has a H/C combo and up. It will make your transmission more reliable in the long run IMHO. \
Other builders do not share my views though. Look in the Stickies at the top of the Automatics Forum, there is an old and long discussion about it.
Good Luck with the new unit!
