MA roads + Eibach Sportline = pain...
I bought a 93 T/A with Eibach Sportline springs and KYB AGX shocks knowing that I'd probably have to change the springs out due to the local roads. Driving around the day after getting the car to Ma confirmed that belief. The question I have is should I take the car back to stock springs or would strano or BMR springs be the path to go down?
I know the strano or BMR springs would improve the cars handling but I'm not sure if they would increase the car's clearence for frost heaves etc... Is there another spring that I should consider as well?
Take it easy

I could pull a set of stock springs off another car but I'm leaning towards strano springs. I'm hoping they'd be stiff enough to handle driving through the roads in Worcester county with out banging the bump stops.
Bryan I saw you're from rehoboth and I don't remember too many bad sections of road there but what does the car feel like when driving in bumpy sections in Taunton or Attleboro? (Used to live in Attleboro)
I hit a section of rough road on Route 9 on Monday that ran the car out of spring travel and the effect felt like bouncing the car off the road once it hit the bumpstops. (I'd slowed to 40 in a 55 with traffic behind me when I saw the patch coming up)
I'm getting some other stuff done to the car for now but I'm thinking of parking it in the garage till I replace the springs and get an alingment.

I can guarantee you the car will ride and work a ton better on my springs than with Sportlines. No doubt about it. You have more suspension travel because we aren't slamming the car, and we use more spring rate too. That doesn't keep you off the bumpstops (don't need to avoid them completely, they work well when used correctly), but it does change a few factors. You'd hit them less often, but when you do get on them you won't run into them @ a million miles an hour, which hurts.
While shocks do have a huge benefit in ride, your problem here is 90% your springs. You have what I'd call adequate shocks in place. I'll use them, but as a distant 2nd to Koni's. Your major issue is the springs.
Of note, if you are considering my springs, I have to tell you that grabbing them sooner than later would be wise. I'm almost out, and we're talking on the order of 3 months for more.

Sams springs will work on the roads around here. I drive everyday all winter. The only problem has been potholes breaking front Koni's, but those issues have been taken care of and are not at all the fault of Strano springs being too low or too soft.
Ask Sam about protecting the front shocks if you get the koni's. They are the best shocks I have ever driven on. One more thing. With a properly sprung, damped and aligned car you don't need to run high tire pressures. 28-32 psi @ 70 deg. is all you need for a smooth ride and great handling.

Sportlines don't seem to have any springrate supported cushioning as you approach the bumpstops like the Sportlines do. Those springs rely on the bumpstops to do their job, which sucks. I would comment more, but I would prefer to have ridden in a Sportline car first myself, as I never have before.

You really don't want be on Sportlines if you can avoid it. I'm only kind of kidding, they suck. But I also know you'd like to see for yourself, and I'd love it if you could get in a car with a set because it'll make mine seem that much better.

It sure would be nice to have more experience in at least riding in some of the common setups. All I can do is look at the Sportline photos people provide of distance between the bumpstops and the axle and cringe knowing that those rates are closer to stock rates than yours, which doesn't seem to make much sense.

I agree, it really doesn't make sense.
