Default how to tell what gears you have

I have 3 rear ends that are not on cars how can I tell what gears are in it. I tryed to spin the yoke and count how many times the rotor goes around but that doesnt seem right. So how do you tell. thanks.


Also how do you tell if its a posi.

Your going to have to pull the cover off and check the stamping in the gear.

How will I tell if it a posi should the wheels spin in any way or could I hold the yoke and try to spin the rotors what should I look for.

Pull the cover off and look on the end of the pinion gear. You should see two numbers. Divide the big into the small ie 41/10= 4.10. As far as the posi, both axles should move the same direction when you turn the pinion.

ok I pulled the cover heres what I could find. r-torsen 9022 99100032
on the ring 12:41 26050890

Can anyone tell me what that is. thank you.

Count the teeth on each gear. Divide the number on the ring gear by the number on the pinion. Or, you could do what you started to do. Spin the hub and count how many times the pinion spins. If it spins about 3.4 turns, it's a 3.42, etc., etc.
