tach not working?

tach not working? okay i just finished with a victor jr intake with elbow and tb. it is getting a SD tune but have not got it yet. the only wire not plugged in that originally was is the maf. for some reason the tach will not work, it runs, idles, and drives fine. any ideas, already checked the grounds. also, what wire would i tap into to run an aftermarket tach that is more accurate.
