I paid $0.00 labor (did it myself). But for fun, I asked a shop and was quoted $700.00.
I'd rather do the work myself, knowing it will be done correctly.

If you want to own a modified car you should at least know how to do basic things like this. Most header installs need the bolt torque checked frequently for the first week or two anyway otherwise the gaskets compress and the header not being tightened back down leads to a leak.

dude this is an easy job. you CAN do it yourself don't waste your money paying A##hole mechanics who are going to rev the **** out of your car when it has open headers and possibly take it for a joyride (hopefully it'd return-if so). seriously this is a pretty easy job. just go for it.

Yeah nothing is free, I did it myself and it costed me probably 200ish bucks...

But then again it was an excuse to buy some new toys like a reciprocating saw, and a box of bandaids... LOL

EASY MAN! I'm a mechanic!
J/K it's cool!

Yeah as a tech, I can honestly say do it yourself it's not that hard honestly.
Just take your time with the bolts in the heads. They don't like to come out so you'll have to repeatedly soak them with penetrating catalyst like WD-40 or ?? and ease them out. It helps if you loosen them till they start to get tight and then tighten them and then loosen them again. Repeat this and they will come out eventually.

I have a write-up you can rewiew if you'd like to!

New Era in Rochester does it for $300 for LT1's.
They quoted me $800 for new, coated Pacesetter LT's and Ypipe installed.

You don't. Don't be a bitch, do the headers yourself. Christ I just tore off the heads, and thats like a header project included. It sucks.

$0.00 done this twice now, let's suffice it to say that you do not want to go with shorties the first time- you'll be doing long tubes after awhile...
