Perfect??? That's a pretty defined term to be throwing around. The drivability is usually better with an EFI setup due to the ability to fine tune certain parameters. But usually a blowthru will make more average power in the way the fuel is drawn into the runner. It acts as an i/c of sorts. EFI you have 60-80psi of fuel presure. Put anything under pressure and it heats up, which in turn decreases power output.

It prob would on a high reving race setup with a big cam, but I wouldn't do it for a street setup myself.

i would with FI
This is the FI section, most in here are. Prob be better asked in the External section, unless you are planning to boost your ride.

Seems like he is just asking a question, not looking to swap to a carb. Trying to feel better about owning an EFI car.

From what I have read over the years it seems EFI is better in every way execpt wide open throttle. At WOT a carb can pull a small advantage. IMO

Hell using 3 times less gas should be enough then! You have more control over the motor in an EFI setup. You can still use the intake and keep the EFI also, that what the FI guys are doing.

+1 For EFI
My last setup was a blow-thru carb setup and while it wade great power, it was a real PITA to tune on the street.
It is difficult to get the part throttle throttle fueling perfect on a carbed FI setup.
I have the boxes of holley jets to prove it !!!!
Unless you are class racing where they give the carb guys a weight break, there is no advantage at all besides gray hairs....LOL
Stay EFI and save yourself a ton of grief.

The air mixing with the fuel in a carb gives an intercooling effect and also is usually a little better atomized. So in theory a carb has the potential to make more power.

But the ease of tuning and somewhat infinite adjustability of EFI will give you better starting and driveability and cleaner emissions. Nothing against carbs myself, I have used them for 30 years, along with EFI and mechanical injection and I'll keep the EFI even if its loosing a few HP. Having to deal with needles and seats, changing jets, accelerator pump squirters/cams, air bleeds vs just sitting there with a laptop makes EFI pretty appealing.

Not to mention, as a lot here probably didnt experience, stock carb'd daily drivers in the wintertime were always a crapshoot getting to start. The days of a shop full of cars that were flooded on a 20 degree day is long gone..

I had a 454 back in HS and it took longer to crank it and get it to idle than for me to get ready for school.

I lived in Chicago and all it took when it was below 20* was a stuck choke pull-off plus a few cranks and your car was sitting inside a shop with the crankcase full of gas and 8 gas soaked plugs. Starting a car when it was cold was an art even when everything worked as it should, but a lot of drivers arent artists.

Or when it got really cold out (below zero) I remember heating up my fuel lines with a blow drier and having a pan of charcoal under the oil pan so the thing would even crank over - the good old days..

I'm still in Chicago and my carbed SBC was no joy to start in January that's for sure.
I was lucky enough that I never had to resort to the Weber grill treatment!

Efi for driveable power
Carb for ultimate HP per dollar....
