lt1 block
ok just out of curiosity where do you guys get your lt1 blocks? im wanting to find just a bare block cheap and start building it from the bottom up over the course of the summer and then put it in next winter. im planning on a doing a 355. but i want to build an engine while my car still runs. but idk where to find a bare lt1 block thats cheap any suggestions?
also i dont want to go lsx just because that would be more trouble and more expense

Junkyard. Remeber a 94-96 b-body has the same shortblock as long as it is an LT1, the LT1 was standard those years in the fleetwood, Roadmaster, Caprice wagon, and Impala, a Caprice sedan could have either a L99 which is a 4.3l version of the LT1 or an LT1, the 4.3L is a V8 externally identical to the LT1 look for my past posts on it for tips on how to tell them apart.
The b-body stuff is usually cheaper, well except the Impala stuff, it is all the same but put the name "impala" on it and prices seem to double.

yeah i bet. the ONLY reason im not going lsx though is because im rebuilding my t56 right now. and i am NOT doing anymore transmission work! its not hard. its just such a damn pita when you keep finding more stuff wrong but it should be a nice "new" transmission. and its kinda cool being the underdog. ive got a little over $100 looking for a block. and then i will get the internals. im wanting all motor. but will probably end up spraying it. so just an add on question... will it hurt anything to set the engine up for spray but never spray it?

ok I garuntee some one will correct me if i am wrong but my understanding is spray is the opposite of boost it loves compression where as boost does not so I would say any motor that is build up to be a stricktly motor car would and should still be a forged internal motor that being said spray should not hurt it unless its an un godly amount. but if yu are buildint non forged as long as you stay around stock compression and no more than a 200 shot you will be fine. but like I said I am sure some one will correct me but this is what i hav gathered from my readings and research.

i think i will just stick with all motor and build it to handle a lot of spray. boost is out of the question. im boosting the 'stang. but ive got to get my rep back now i did have in the top 3 fastest cars in town...after i got my trans am though like 4 more lsx's came in. so im building. and plus my car has 12x,xxx on the clock. and is there a justifiable gain of hp with a single plane setup? idk how much it cost to get one converted to work. if its too much i will just go ported lunchbox. (stock manifold) is it possible to go high 400's on all motor?

are you talking 400 crank or wheeel hp? alot of guys with te ai 200cc heads n cam have been seeing 400+rwhp with bolt ons as well as well as le2 guys so if you taking into acount a 355 or 383 or bigger as well as all bolt ons with a good heads n cam as well as a ported inted 450 rwhp doesnt seem that far out of the question but once againe I am sure some one will correct me if i am wrong. but I am shootoing for a 9.1 compression 383 with 9 psi and a posted set of heads and intake as well as 1.6 rockers on the intake and 1.7 rockers on the exaust and I am hoping i will hit my 450 rwhp mark.
