Default 383 ls1 or 6.0 iron block

I'm in the process of building my 01 transam and i cant decide between strokin my ls1 or replacing it with 6 liter iron block any suggestions on which would be a better idea? FYI i plan on making it all forged internals and porting the stock ls1 heads and putting a healthy cam. I'm going for a quick N/A car with the option to put nitrous if i decide to.

Yeah I'd go with the 427 but if money is no option the 572 looks nice also.

If the 6.0 is going to stay the same except for a cam and heads then the 383 will be better but a stroked out 6.0 is better yet. More cubes what can I say you know the deal.

408 would be a cheaper/easier option.

I'm trying to figure this one out too...so many choices, which is the right one? lol. I think I'm just going to contact a few of the sponsors and ask them about it and see how much to get it built. Good luck!

it really comes down to what u can afford. i got a 408ci iron block because it was in my budget. i looked at 427-440-454 those short blocks i could have affordad, just all the little stuff u gotta run with those motors add up. that would have but me way out budget. you cant really go wrong with any strocker u get your gonna make power

yea i found an iron block 6.0 all forged rotating assembly for a good price so i think i will most likly go with the 408 stroker with a big cam. Can anyone give me an estimated rwhp with 408 stroker motor with 619 or so lift cam ported ls1 heads ls6 intake ported and polished throttle body headers lid and all the other little bolt ons?

I'll give you track times. I think 10's no problem that kinda the norm, thats given a proper set up.
so I think in the 600 range at the engine 550 range at the wheels thats just a guess I like the sound of a 10 secound car better than dyno queen #'s.
