Default Help! confused!!!carrier question

Alright I have heard mixed things here!!!
I have 2:73 rear end on a 95 Z.

I want to upgrade to 3:73 I heard that the extra ring(50 dollars)with the gears to upgrade is a bad Idea.

What is the best way to upgrade to 3:73 with out having to upgrade the carrier. Staying with a 2 series...
I'm confused as ever here and would like to purchase the right stuff ASAP.
Any help would be cool. thanks

Just buy gears that are made for 2 series. The thick ones.
