Default Loss of Gears 94 Trans Am GT

So a few weeks ago, my car lost reverse. The same day I got the reverse back and ever since then, i have only had first and second gear...wont kick into third. the tranny only has 15000 miles and its a monster kit rebuild. the car sometimes seems confused as to when to shift into second and that is why i don't think it is a mechanical issue with the trans. i got the linkage looked at and the guy saw nothing with the linkage. I am taking it to a shop soon to get some diagnostics done to it. A guy at the transmission place said it might be an electrical issue. Any clue as to what might be going on?

Well I know the solenoids are all there but I do have a stock trans for the car available. Should I go ahead and put that in, or wait for the testing'?

No though the tuning will be off a little for the stock trans it should work fine its not the same as when you goto a high stall from a low stall and have to tune for it

sweet that would help then for cost. How much should I be looking to pay to have the transmission put in?
