Street Racing & Kill Stories - finally got to play with my TA and some SS questions?

hey there again....well i finally got to play with another car since buying my 02 TA. i found a 2000 SS camaro in town and we decided to give it a go!!!! from a 30 romp, he jumped first (no horns or anything) and we went at it, he shifted a little earlier than me and when we went into 5th i had caught him nose to nose before we let off, so i was happy to say that i was actually running him down....once we slowed down we pulled over and talked a bit, this is where my questions come in, lol....he said he was driven a 2000 SLP SS camaro??? 500Hp stickers were under the side SS stickers, he said the only reason i pulled him was he was running on 3 fouled plugs, hmmmm, sounded pretty steady to me side by side. but anyway, he raised the hood, it looked stock to me, all the way, he said the heads were stamped SLP on the rear of them, also said he had the ls6 intake even though it has the hose coming out from it, and i noticed it was still the stock shifter and a flowmast exhaust....i mean dont get me wrong the car was strong, i only pulled cause i have the headers and stuff on mine, but i am just wanting to know, did SLP really make some SS camaro close to 500 horses? anyway, i had fun, nice to blow the webs out the TA for the first time with another car, and i talked to him about COFBA as well!!! trying to get a group up from around this area to make the trip up to you guys sometime!!! sorry so long, but had to tell all about my fun!!!

no i don't think slp ever made a 500 hp car.

To my knowledge there never was an SLP camaro even close to 500 hp. Try 345 hp from the factory with the slp options.

you no its just a shame though, we pulled over and chatted for a good 20 min, seemed like a good guy that would be fun to hang out with BUT then you just gotta think, why try and BS about your car. i mean i can safely say i dont know all there is to know about cars, and for sure LS1 f-bodies, but come on, im not an idiot either!!! i mean im sitting there with my car and his car, both hoods popped open and looking at his set-up and my set-up and he is telling me there isnt anything stock about his car, lol. SLP stamped heads, on the back, i have never seen them stamp the heads on the rear, its always in the front so its visible!!! 3 fouled plugs, but yet it wasnt popping, backfiring when shifting and it was idling just fine when we got ready to leave. its a very very nice car, well taken care of, and ran great, just be a man, and say it has 345hp and its a SS....geez, thats alot right there!!!!

Its the nature of guys and cars alot of guys dont know anything about their cars, Its an ego thing no one wants to admit that thier car is slower. I took my car to a show one year and had a guy tell me that his SLP ss would smoke mine I was like I just did a cam headers stall and gears haha and told him that I ran a verry low 12 1/4. He insisted that his car was still faster haha thats when I asked him what options he had he didnt even know haha Man its hard to dispute a guy with a big Ego.
Basicly your car power wise is the same as his man any LS1 car be it a Vett, camaro, TA, SS,WS6, or GTO's that came with the ls1 just some weight diffrences in some cases.
Go put a cam in your car then race that guy tell him you only have 300 hp haha of corse he will still come up with another excuse.

the only way this guy has 500 is if he's running a 200 shot which is possible. That wouldn't be unheard off, would explain the fouled plugs but I still call BS. Most people that have that don't badge it. Just like people saying they have the SLP package on their plain jane Z28??? I've heard that more than once. The next excuse will be fuel filter, not yeah nice car-that thing is pretty quick.

no i swear all those comments came right from him while we were sitting in the parking lot with both hoods up and comparing cars, lol.....i have enjoyed reading all the comments, it was pretty funny stuff. i will see about catching him this weekend and getting some pics of the car, that should really get ya going!!!

Sounds like some one feed the guy a line of BS and he bought it.. He most likely has no idea what what his car has. Not all guys are true car guys.
