10K Budget 1996 Z-28 Camaro
Well went and took a $10K loan like a moron would do to spend on my 1996 Z-28 Camaro and I figured I would do a little thread about it and show my ups and downs through it all. This will not be a daily driven street car either, but will be a weekend warrior.
My Car already has the following:
K&N Cold Air
Some kind of high flow muffler
4.10 Gears in a 10 bolt (don't plan on having this thing much longer)
Hypertech Programmer III
Today I went an ordered the following:
Pacesetter Longtubes w/ Ceramic Coating 1 3/4 Primary's
Professional Products 58mm Throttle Body
160 Degree Thermostat
Also bought from a friend:
NOS 125 Wet Kit
Another Stock Block
I have a TH350 with 9" tail shaft so if I feel that I have reached a sufficient goal for me and it isn't enough to bust the 10 bolt then I can use my stock driveshaft. Now if I feel I need more power I will be going with a 9" rear setup. By the way in case your wondering I killed the 4L60E.
Pics of stuff will be posted as it arrives and what not.

10k is a good bit of money, i wouldnt put that 58mm TB on a stock manifold, i would send it off to be ported and have the heads ported as well, then do a cam! Jus my .02! What are your intentions with the block, boring? diff. rotating ***.? Also if your making decent power, dont forget about ur suspension! I would like more details lol!

Depending on how much he bought the block and nitrous for he prob still has about 8 to 9thousand to spend. Still alot of money, but its all on what is intentions and goals for the car is!

he will enjoy his car. i was in a similar position, either sell my car or dump money into it. i thought to myself, do i really want to start all the way over on a new car? even then you dont know what your gonna get into. i would much rather have a beast *** LT1 than a bolt on LS1. jmo

I only had a few bolons when I had the stock motor and went 12.5
if I got everything and wasnt full weight I could have gone 11`s too
LS1`s are nothing special. You get much better value buying an LT1 and having the motor done and go 10`s then buying a stock ls1 and putting a few boltons and busting the stock rear end countless amounts of times and limping to 12.0 for the same price.

power doesnt mean as much as you think for track times. For example my little LT1 with only 7 passes on the new combo went 10.73@127 on 1800 density altitude and a crappy 60ft(1.50)
I only make 451 rwhp and 366 rwtq on a dynojet
I know that this year I will run a 10.29@129 with better air and the 150 lbs I took out over the winter and with a better 60ft maybe a 1.43 or so
I also have a baby head on my car and if I got decent heads I could maybe get close to 9`s on motor.
You can sit there with your 13 second car and talk but thats all it is is talk
sorry for the I am finished with this
